Xiangyang Song

Visiting Research Assistant Professor

Xiangyang Song received his Ph.D. from the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His areas of study were laser and plasma interactions and x-ray lasers. At the University of Illinois-Chicago X-ray Microimaging Lab, Song is responsible for the design, construction, and operation of the femtosecond TW KrF* (248 nm) laser system, as well as improving and simplifying the timing system for a high power Ti: Sapphire/KrF* hybrid laser. Song also conducts research on visible and x-ray holographic microscopes, and participates in research on high power density plasmas in stable self-trapped channels.
